The calendar of Estonian EU presidency includes, in addition to the high-level events in the political calendar, more than 200 expert-level meetings and conferences to be held in Estonia. These are official presidency events, which are funded by the presidency budget.
The events calendar will be published on the presidency website eu2017.ee in May 2017.
How are presidency events selected to be included in the presidency calendar?
A number of events to be held during the presidency are not funded by the central budget, yet these events are related to the presidency due to their content, or for reasons of historical tradition. To include such events in the official presidency calendar, the organisers should send a relevant request indicating the details of the event to the Director of the EU Secretariat (EUS) of the Government Office ( request form). The completed request should be sent by email to email@example.com
All requests are examined by ministry advisers and the Government Office and, in the case of events to be held in Brussels, experts from the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the EU (PREU). In the case of a positive decision, where the director of the EUS approves the list of events, the presidency team shall include the event in the calendar. The director of the EUS has the right to reject an event without further explanation.
